The Captain of the Pacific Princess decided to stay over in Dubai for an extra night and half a day for logistical reasons having to do with our transit of the Suez canal. So, Frances insisted that we go to the Dubai Mall and up to the observation deck of the Burj Kalifa, the tallest building in the world. So, we grabbed a taxi to the mall.
Inside the mall Frances made a deal for really cut rate entry to the Burj Kalifa. We went past the Aquarium in the mall, into the Burj Kalifa and took the 74 second elevator ride to 125th floor! It had rained the night before but the sky was still full of sand. So, we couldn’t see out to the horizon but we could see down … and it was a long way! We were looking down on skyscrapers!
When we were done, we grabbed a cab back to the port and sailed off.
